Queen's Gold and Crystal Polymers

The Atlantic Bank reports that the Queen fixed the crown price at $1056.20, up $0.45 from the price the crown sold for the past 2 months. The fact that the price ends with a zero indicates that at the time of the fix the gold demand in the country was going through a transition, or was equal the supply. Price ending with an odd digit signifies an upward trend, and an even digit indicates a downward trend.

The price for a troy ounce, meanwhile, has crept closer to the crown, set at $828.80, while the crown price for the troy ounce is $869.11. Platinum crept up to $1526.00, as traded by the Atlantic Bank.

Yesterday's assassination of Benazir Bhutto added to the sense of the instability in the region, since Pakistan possesses a nuclear weapon.

The Atlantic Bank's Dollar certificates continue to be traded at their high face value, and that remains the only opportunity to profit from the declining dollar.

Kronborg Industries is unfazed by the falling of the dollar, and has announced the release of its new line of monitors and displays. The long awaited Omni-Directional Interactive monitors based on Koborg's crystal-impregnated space-age polymers has been shipped to the major US distributors. The monitors incorporate the classic 3-D Information features, and now offer the layered interactivity.

Euro-Dollar Pair To Dive

Written by Jamie Saettele, Currency Analyst: It is still possible that the EURUSD challenges congestion near 1.4452 before the pair reverses and drops to a new low (below 1.4330).  However, the EURUSD may drop below 1.4330 without first challenging 1.4452 and complete wave C (and larger wave 4) of the A-B-C decline from 1.4967.  A potential terminus for the decline is where wave C = wave A at 1.4309.  The next 5 to 6 weeks should see larger wave 5 exceed 1.5000.

Higher gold prices need of the hour to boost recycling in the Middle East

12/16/2007 07:32 PM | By Naushad K. Cherrayil
http://archive.gulfnews.com/articles/07/12/16/10175139.html

Dubai: Gold prices will need to return to levels close to $850 to encourage a further surge in gold recycling in the Middle East, GFMS's latest report said.

"With gold pushing through $800 in early November, this sharp rise was expected to have provided the impetus for a hood of recycled gold from Saudi Arabia, the world's largest supplier of scrap last year.

"However, this has not been the case, with scrap fows from the Kingdom surprisingly weak in the second half of this year," said Cameron Alexander, an analyst at GFMS.

Year ahead

Looking ahead to the next year, he said it is unlikely that Saudi scrap gold volumes will return to 2006 levels unless a higher gold price is achieved.

The resultant slump in jewellery consumption would likely encourage a portion of retailers to take advantage of record prices and liquidate their holdings.

"Consider that average scrap volumes were over 30 tones per quarter in 2003 globally but, so far this year they have fallen to under 20 tones on average," Alexander said.

Similarly in the Middle East, the reaction to the rise in the metal prices has been controlled, with scrap supply supported by the distribution chain unloading slow moving inventory rather than individuals of loading gold assets, as was the case for much of 2006.

"Several dealers in Saudi Arabia involved in the scrap market said they were perplexed at the lower volumes of scrap currently being returned to local gold souks in spite of a 27-year high for the gold price," he said.

Trend: Dubai scenario

Demand for jewellery in Dubai has been modest with consumers buying solidly on dips in prices. But right now they do not appear selling, or exchanging jewellery, with the expectation of higher prices on the horizon, GFMS's report said.

The most simple explanation of this appears to be that, as expectations of higher (and ever higher) prices have taken hold, consumers have reduced the amount of old jewellery they are willing to sell back.

Report says the rise in the gold price, even in euro terms, obviously features but its direct importance should not be overstated.

Dumb Money Dumps Gold

Alex Roslin at cotstimer says:

Turns out the "dumb money" small traders in gold derivatives have thrown in the towel. The latest data shows their net long position falling to a bearish extreme as a percentage of the total open interest in gold futures and options.

What does that mean in layperson's terms? The folks who tend to be positioned the wrong way in the markets believe gold has topped, and they're selling it. That means my system based on trading opposite to the small traders in gold has just flashed a renewed bullish signal for Canadian Gold iUnits (symbol XGD). (See the table below for more details.) Personal disclosure: I've been long XGD since this setup flipped to bullish back in May. I found in my research on the past COTs data that the best way to trade XGD was to fade the gold small traders.

However, not all markets work the same. My research also found it was best to trade on the same side as the "smart money" gold commercial traders—these would be the gold miners—for bullion itself as well as the HUI Gold Bugs Index and USERX U.S. Gold Fund. That's just the way this fascinating data works.

And these three latter setups flipped to bearish in the Sept. 25 COTs report due to extreme pessimism on the part of the commercial traders. Since September, the commercials have steadily reduced their large net short position to the point where my gold and HUI setups have just gone to neutral (zero) for the first time in nearly two months. Of course, the commercials are still far from actually getting to the point where they'd flip my setups to bullish.

In silver, the "dumb money" small traders have bumped up their net long position a fair amount since the previous COTs report. Now, they're just slightly negative about silver's prospects compared to the historic data. My silver signal remains solidly in the bullish column, where it's been since July. (Disclosure: I've been long SLV iShares Silver since that signal started, too.)

The action in copper since September has been quite depressing if you happened to be a bull. Since my copper setup gave three renewed bearish signals starting in the Sept. 25 COTs report, copper is down about 15 percent. Yikes. With the latest COTs report, my copper setup still has a bearish tilt because the "dumb money" large speculators—the big investment firms and hedge funds—are still fairly bullish by historic standards. This, despite the dramatic selloff! It makes you wonder how these folks stay in business. Oh yeah, that's right. Commissions, management fees, tax loopholes, offshore accounts. Almost forgot.

And what of the beleaguered U.S. buck? Do the COTs give any hope for the poor greenback, so crushed and unloved? No, sorry, they don't. In fact, the "smart money" commercials in U.S. dollar index futures have again reduced their net long position—their seventh straight such move. My dollar setup, already on a bearish signal since way back in Oct. 2006—when the dollar's latest downtrend started—now has a decidedly bearish tilt.

For more details and signals from my setups for equities, energy, the Treasuries, currencies and agriculture, visit my free blog COTsTimer.Blogspot.com. Good luck this week.

A Short List of Interesting Things In Konigsborg

Inside the 36 square miles, plus or minus, of Konigsborg, there are these interesting things packed in:

  • The Royal Mint that also mints Attland Government coins and currency
  • The Royal Depository, holding probably the largest hoard of gold and platinum, and probably other precious metals of importance to the country

No Need to Go To The OPEC Meeting

The Queen's policy seemed to have worked, or even paid off when today's OPEC meeting turned out to concentrate on the problem of non-OPEC influences on the price of oil. Instead of the organization's mere discussion of raising or lowering production quotas, the oil demand by India and China turns out to be a more significant driving factor behind the prices.

The weakened US economy, with its chain-reaction effect on the dollar, and subsequently, the OPEC's member countries currencies pegged to the greenback does not bode well, neither the prospect of milking out an additional million or two per daily quota.

For those who remember the alleged SCS (the name is still media-defined) report that Russia's Putin was overheard discussing with Iranian and Venezuelan dictators the manipulation of world politics as a means to control the price of petroleum. Who heeded the report? The US administration is still hiding its head in the sand, or sticking to the lily-livered castles of the globalization, or its intelligence community is doing all of the above plus singing to the tune of the late CIA Chief Casey's "There are no Kremlin moles in the CIA."

The Queen was right in establishing the interim U.S. dollar as the currency for Attland, which was a prelude to the gold standard. That plan turns out to have saved us from worrying about the falling US dollar, the rising cost of petroleum and gold.

Atlantic exports: more than just gold

The eye on gold would see that the amount of dollars yielded from gold sales would weaken dollar even more, but the dollar certificates bearing itnerest traded at a slightly higher price of $1.021 to a dollar bearing the same lucrative 3.75%.

Atlantic exports

According to the Attland Council of Commerce:

In the Industrial sector, many of these technologies turned out to have contributed to impressive export volume in the past 5767 year.

  • optronic computers, components, displays, marquees, intelligent cameras, and optronic-electronic interfaces
  • hybrid automobiles, parallel, serial, and other variations
  • high-performance super-digitized automotive engines
  • synthetic wood
  • high-performance turbine engines
  • floating refineries
  • modular nuclear reactors
  • diamonds, gems
  • crystal-impregnated plastics
  • specialty luxury jewelry and watches
  • medical sensing instrumentation
  • oil development equipment
In the agriculture sector:

  • the bread tree (not to be confused with the breadfruit tree) products -the leaf paste, the fruit and its pulp, the petals, the bark and other edible and non-edible harvest derivatives
  • the chocolate carob products- the pure chocolate that is 99.99% identical to chocolate that is free from any other processing stages
  • new llama-alpaca breed wools
  • spider and worm silks
  • new variants of vanilla
In the service sector, there is:
  • the gold banking services, led by the Atlantic Royal Bank
  • the wholesale deposit insurance, led by Koborg Capital Security, an ARB affiliate

Gold rules on Atlantic

Spot gold 785.40 rising
Spot silver 14.4 rising
Spot Platinum 1446.00 and rising.

The Konigsborg Bank, however, upped its price for gold:

Gold sale price 836.55, buy price 811.25
Silver remained at 15.55
Platinum was kept below 1477.15

The worldwide price of gold fell, mostly due to an increase of gold sales to Attland, and the Atlantic Royal Bank, particularly. The sheer volume of redeemed dollars supported the dollar's weakness, except when traded against yen.

The National treasury spokesman reports that the inflow of gold is enough that the National Government has no need to request more gold sales to the banks.

King Yarl's Career Summary; An Eye on Gold

King Yarl has over 40 unpublished research papers that he had decided to keep to himself and to use it to advance his national agenda. A peer-reviewed report on his research on phenomena of ion-mass diffusions, complete work not reported.

The discoveries in the diffusion were used to develop (a) the manufacture of integrated photonic fibers, microprocessors and memory, (b) electron cascade discharge reaction, (c) the manufacture of bionic power materials.

The King also invented and developed applications in:

revolutionary electric motor and generator designs;

compact nuclear reactor designs;

method for separating deuterium and tritium heavy waters;

devices and methods for remote sensing of metal, oil and gas;

remote sensing devices and systems;

drilling and recovery methods for oil and gas;

artificial intelligence for video sensing and processing;

ionized matter and plasma storage system;

plasma jet propulsion and the engine;

catalyzed waste processing.

Notable non-scientific projects involved his plan to liberate Atland. He has invested all of his family treasury to accomplish this, and the liberation operations bore names of SKI GAMES, which were training and preparations for WINTER BREAK, the actual landing and reconquest.

KEEPING AN EYE ON ROYAL GOLD

The dollar gains today, and causes the woes over its credit policies to launch profit taking by sales of gold.

Spot gold 787.40 rising
Spot silver 14.45 rising
Spot Platinum 1428.00 and rising.

The Konigsborg Bank, however, maintained its previous levels for gold:

Gold sale price 834.15, buy price 810.25
Silver remained at 15.55
Platinum was kept below 1477.15

The Koborg Bank's prices mean that the metals will continue to flow into the Attland, even though the National Government decision was made to ask the Bank to sell unspecified amount of gold in order to lower the rates on the brand new interest-bearing gold accounts.

The National Government went ahead with the issuance of silver coins equivalent to 5, 10, 25 and 50 darlings. In addition to the silver coins, the Government started to issue darling fraction coins in denominations of 0.50 and 0.25 (forthing).

The sources in American metal trading houses claim, rather unofficially, that the Koborg Bank, as well as its Atlantic Royal Bank international operations continue to guarantee the gold's sale price, as witnessed by large-volume transactions which are bringing in incredible amounts of gold into the banks' reserves. That, undoubtedly, will ultimately serve to alleviate the Attland economy's extreme demand for gold, help to keep down the interest rates and inflation. More from these sources later.

Intro and Digest of the Royal Affairs

CHIEF JUSTICE AND ADMINISTRATIVE AGENDA

1.
The Royal Estate reports that the Great National Council has officially recognized that Queen Iya, having completed her jurisprudential career requirements, has achieved required professional qualification and education to attain the title of the complete royal. The title assigns the queen the rights and office of the Chief Justice, which is the same as Justice Supreme, appointed over the entire Supreme Court justices, its decisions, and the rights and the office to represent the State and the Nation.

Having the master’s degrees with honors in Astrophysics and Computer Science, has given Queen Iya the title and the office to head the National Science Collegium, the UCICS advisory board, and the National Communication Collegium.

2.
One of the very first divisions handed by Queen Iya is the ruling on the Temple Goblet.

The goblet was found in the basement of the Royal Museum Depository, which is on the grounds of the Ingeborg Fortress. The goblet was stored among the artifacts of the Medieval Christian exhibit. A re-examination during restoration work has revealed an obscured writing within the metalwork of the juncture of the goblet’s cup with its stem. Further analysis revealed that the stem was welded onto the goblet in the 9 the century CE, while the goblet has been found to have been made in the first century BCE. The manufacture analysis and the writing on the goblet have led to the conclusion that the goblet has been on of the Jerusalem Temple’s service vessels.

Several religious and academic institutions have joined in a class action suit to request an unrestricted scientific access to the goblet, and several Christian institutions headed by an organization associated with Vatican have sued to reclaim the goblet as their property.

The Supreme Court of the Nations has ruled that the goblet is to remain in the possession of the Royal Museum, and any access to the goblet, as well as any other part of the exhibit is to be managed by the most qualified staff from the Royal Museum or the National Trophy Museum authorities. The parties that brought the class action suit have appealed the Supreme Court's decision, resulting in the two cases ascending automatically to the Supreme Court’s Appeals Council. The Council has ruled in favor of the Royal Museum as pertaining to the access to the goblet or any of the exhibit, and waived its right to review the cases pertaining to the ownership, sending the cases to the office of Queen Iya.

Queen Iya has ruled the cases in favor of the National Trophy Museum Authority.

The Non-Partisan Law

Queen Iya has upheld the law prohibiting any political parties, pressure groups, lobbies or organizations that are organized to influence in any manner political, executive, jurisprudential or legislative process.

The death verdict for 250 rioters, upheld.

Upheld, the Violent and Subversive Organizations Act, and the expulsion order of minorities and organizations affected by the act

Upheld the enforcement of the VSO Act

The enforcement included the eviction of religious organizations affected by the Violent and Subversive Organizations Act, and the order for demolition of the buildings of the organizations (mosques, churches, monasteries). As a binding opinion, the queen ruled that the Catholic church denominations, church organizations engaged in evangelical and missionary activities anywhere in the world, Moslem organizations and Mosque-based communities, monasteries, white power organizations, and any other organizations whose activities have been found by the National Executive or Jurisprudential authorities as to be subversive, to forment public disorder, to transfer moneys in a surreptious manner, are barred from the territories subject to the National government’s administration, and any individuals who are representatives or principals of such organizations may stand trial retroactively for crimes committed by its members, and may be subject to expulsion from Heursland.

The Upholding of the Gradnea Act

The Act allows a married man that is found by a court as qualified to marry more women. Drawing some criticism that found her ruling lenient if not liberal, the Queen also upheld the right of a man to marry a legal resident, and even a non-resident foreign national. The Act implicitly allows import of brides from impoverished countries, but does stress that the children of such marriages are not eligible for national citizenship registry.

Supreme Courts Opinion, specific request for, regarding the VSO authority:

Organizations known as Freemasons, Masons, Amish, Mennonites and the communities related thereto, Amish and the communities related thereto, and Dukhobors, are all confirmed as conforming with the laws of the VSO act.

PERSONAL INITIATIVES

The CHF:

Queen Iya has created The Central Help Foundation, funded by interest earned by several financial deposits to the National Treasury Fund Deposit system.

The National Defense Effort:

Queen Iya has purchased the nuclear-propelled battleship Kingsburg, and several other capital warships (another battleship and several battle cruisers) for the National Navy, and has paid for the construction of smaller warships and submarines. The ships purchased remain her property, while being staffed and operated by the National Navy.

The First Cruise Around The World

In Fall 2003, the Queen Iya had set boarded the battleship Kingsburg, accompanied by a fossil-fueled battleship, 1 aircraft carrier, 1 land attack helicopter carrier, 2-5 cruisers, 10 destroyers, and 5-10 frigates.

The Queen’s escort had approached the shores of Portugal and Spain, entered the Mediterranean, approached the shores of Sicily, Greece, Crete and stood offshore from Tel Aviv, Israel, where Queen Iya had taken a ride in a state convoy by the National embassy staff, National Marine battalions, the Royal Guard Forces, and Israeli security forces. She had visited Jerusalem’s Western Wall, had spoken with leading religious authorities, and upon returning to Tel Aviv, had visited with leading representatives of the Diamond Exchange to discuss Royal diamonds and gems she had brought along, as well as diamonds and gems from local collections. The land visit lasted from morning to early evening.

From Israel her ship had set course for the Suez Canal, which she transited, sailed by the island of Sokotra, sailed by the coast of Arabia, entered the Persian Gulf, approaching the coast of Iraq, where the both battleships carried out gunnery training by firing barrages of live rounds at the designated locations on the Iraqi shore. The live fire drew some world criticism. After a daylight visit off Iraqi shores, she had set course to exit the Persian Gulf, had sailed to the shores of India, approached the shores of Bombay, and having received the Indian Navy’s official salute, sailed along the shore south and around Sri Lanka, to Malacca Straits, sailed past Singapore, set course for the Sorong National Military installations in Indonesia, sailing past and into the Pacific Ocean, passing Tahiti, the Easter Island, through the Magellan Straits passing iceberg zone into the Atlantic Ocean, sailing within the sight of Paraguay-Brazil coasts, and directly north homeward to dock at the Ingeborg Fortress port.

On Hash, Security, and Retirement

The word is, after the long absence, is distributed hash table. DHTs may have been used for file sharing networks, but I hope the gentlemen in grey suits, if they are not already a subcontractors for the company, figured out that Pastry and Tapestry are more than for academic hashing. They may have already went beyond the 160-bit string workspace. They have been used for closed, one-way, public key system exploitation because their k-bucket and distance calculation is an incredible tool for that very purpose. I2P, an anonymous network, is for the Moscow's SVR fairhair boys disguised as videogame and Emule addicts. Next time, find time just to create an image with pertinent information - do not steganograph it - and let the Kad system generate the hash for you. Copy and distribute the file's unique hash. The possibilities are limitless.

Funny how Google yields zeroes when searching for Mukasey (read this in Russian) hte KGB illegal. Is he still virtually illegal and unknown to the US Intel community? I don't know much outside FICLANT and AIC. Though back in late 1930's Mukasey used a Soviet ship to smuggle another illegal out of USA. More on the Russian illegal's adventures, read Drozdov, Vartanian. Mukasey, according to our calculations, has become a centenarian.

Numbers stations, CPU signals, Russian poker

The numbers station have been outdated. The new smart and wily kid on the block is actually the old cyphertext. Not only does the text look innocent, having been encrypted with NORVA, but it also serves as a vehicle for unrelated, second purpose messaging.

Thus, a message in NORVA

LITTLE JENNY TAKES SAWFLY LINE LEAF RISES SUNNY DAY

Besides conveying a message the likes of

DO NOT SEND DATA CHANNEL BRAVO KEEP GOLF OPEN

The secondary meaning of the NORVA is

573917739

which could stand for anything, unrelated to the plaintext.

@@@@@@@

The new methods of the side-channel attack are the CRT diffuse visible light scan (link to PDF), CPU’s HLT state pickup, HD head seek scan.

It is also possible to distinguish various behaviors of CPU and memory operations. This is observed for artificial cases, like cycles of various CPU instructions, as well as for real-life cases, like RSA decryption.

A low-frequency acoustic source yield information on a much faster CPU in two ways. When the CPU is working on a long operation, it creates a characteristic acoustic spectral signature. Second, the temporal information about the length of each operation is obtained, and this can be used to launch a timing attack, especially when a cryptomaster can affect the input to the operation.

The valuable acoustic information lies above 10KHz, whereas typical noises, including computer fan noise, are found at lower frequencies and can thus be filtered out by proper equipment. In a task-switching systems, different tasks can be distinguished by their different acoustic spectra. When several computers are present, they can be told apart by their unique acoustic signatures, since these are dictated by the hardware, the component temperatures, and other environmental conditions. Very similar to working submarine passive sonar. Here is when SALWISS comes in handy.

The CPU instruction that is the least difficult to detect is the 80x86 HLT instruction. This instruction puts the CPU into a low-power sleep phase until the next hardware interrupt. Modern CPUs temporarily shut down many of the on-chip circuits, thereby significantly lowering power consumption and altering acoustic emissions for relatively long time. The difference between active computation, which never involves HLT instructions, and an idle CPU, where the kernel executes HLT instructions in its idle state, is very distinct. If the only program open is a cryptographic application, then this already suffices to detect the moment the program wakes up for input and when it finishes its cryptographic tasks, and this information can be used to launch timing attacks. There are, of course, other, subtler acoustic cues that carry detailed information.

I hope more of you knew of Alexander Zaporozhsky. He is the one who helped CIA to bust Hansen. The Russians outsmarted Langley by letting Zaporozhsky visit Moscow unencumbered, building up his feeling of a secure status quo. His last visit was a result of his own yearning to come, entirely oblivious to the intensive operation culminating with his arrival in Moscow for the last time, putting an end to his cushy life in a Maryland suburb.

It seems (hoping against hope that it is no more than “seems”) that while the US security organizations are preoccupied with politically correct policies reflecting the views of new world order, grand new democracies and nation building, Russia, now rid of ideologies that used to guide USSR and KGB till the point of bankruptcy, has succeeded in streamlining its security operations into a no-nonsense, low-profile, mean, lean spying machine.

Nobody got lucky with the original NORVA message (see below).

How to do steganography and NORVA Messaging the crypto way

Veering off the topic of SALWISS displays, we are going to examine, and possibly quiz some of you on the CAIRNORVA decryption. Meanwhile, here is a how-to on a neat steganography method that I found on a forum. It is a set of very simple steps:

  • Create a public key;
  • Export the public key;
  • Use Clip Secure, or an equivalent;
  • Set Clip Secure to the OFB mode;
  • Encrypt a short text mesaage with CS in OFB mode, make sure that the cyphertext is no longer than 64 symbols;
  • Copy and paste the cyphertext at the beginning of the public key, then - trim the key so that the whole assembly looks innocent. Make sure the cyphertext is not chopped or altered.

Test:
Load the
key text minus the headers into SC and decrypt. Should be fine.
The public key, however, is corrupted beyond recovery. That is OK.
You post it anonymously to the internet, for example, as a new user of a forum which has an naturally designated slot suitable for a PGP key in user profile, or just into any other area where it is unlikely to arouse suspicion, but render it easy to locate intentionally.

Provided the user's true identity and anonymity has been preserved, it is additionally crucial to ensure that this modified key can be traceable. Now the person for whom it was intended may safely copy it without arousing any suspicion by being aprt of a completely benign traffic of the forum.

The bogus key may arouse suspicion
(which is highly unlikely) only when and if a third party will attempt to use it.

Back to the CAIRNORVA. The encrypted message:

GLENN STAKE THAT FAME THREE FOUR THREE ON BOOK.

BUSH LAKE GATES THREE SEEING MOLD MAKE.

GROVE NOTHING BOOK SEVEN WARMING THE JACK.

Take note of the definite, non-abstract nouns – these are your hints. Of course, this goes without saying, do not go on the wild goose chase analyzing the BOOK being repeated, if you have no previous experience with CAIRNORVA.

I used the simplest lexicon encryption. Almost the one you can find on Spammimic.I think you’ll have no problem unbuttoning this:

Dear Salaryman , Thank-you for your interest in our

letter ! If you are not interested in our publications

and wish to be removed from our lists, simply do NOT

respond and ignore this mail . This mail is being sent

in compliance with Senate bill 1619 ; Title 6 , Section

307 . This is not multi-level marketing . Why work

for somebody else when you can become rich inside 43

MONTHS . Have you ever noticed people will do almost

anything to avoid mailing their bills and more people

than ever are surfing the web . Well, now is your chance

to capitalize on this . WE will help YOU turn your

business into an E-BUSINESS & use credit cards on your

website ! You can begin at absolutely no cost to you

. But don't believe us ! Mrs Anderson who resides in

Arkansas tried us and says "My only problem now is

where to park all my cars" ! This offer is 100% legal

. If not for you then for your loved ones - act now

. Sign up a friend and you'll get a discount of 40%

. Warmest regards .

This rather wordy encryption unbuttons to data relayed , using rancid as the password.

Again, I would remind you that repeat occurrences of nouns can truly throw you a curve ball. That much I can disclose to you.
The beauty of CAIRNORVA is that you can encrypt short messages without a code book or a PC, or a palmtop. An added-on value is that the method would teach you to think clearly, formulate your message into a simple, crisp sentences, and you might just benefit from this process of a collateral benefit – you might become a Hemingway! Send those unbutton messages by e-mail, y’hear?

SALWISS Info Overlay, Military Target

In this installment of SALWISS basics, we will see that the SALWISS information management is very straightforward and end-user oriented. Look at this display of a gunship FOV with SALWISS information overlaid.

Some of the targets here have been downloaded to the pilot from a SALWISS platform, while some have been acquired by his gunship's SALWISS sensors. Other than the navigation data, the prime field of view is taken up with SALWISS labels overlaid as arrows, letters, stars, and X's.

Immediately next to the pilot's console there is this SALWISS target list:

the list means:

A and B are trucks, medium warm, and they are major SALWISS targets sent from a major platform.
C is a metal object, relatively cool, and it is a target received from a local command, or another weapon platform.
D is a human, acquired by the pilot's gunship's SALWISS sensors, and appears to be partially exposed or hiding.
E is a building structure, with fixed markers, its targeting points fixed and sent by SALWISS staff.
F is a canopy structure, with markers adjustable, sent automatically from a SALWISS platform.
G is a relatively warm equipment, a target sent by another weapon platform.
H is a small metal object, a piece of small equipment, a target sent by another weapon platform.
I is a medium-sized metal object, relatively warm, a target sent by another weapon platform.
J is a section of a road, with its markers, or targeting points adjustable, sent by SALWISS staff.
K is a defined point, movable, assigned by a local command.

As a clue to the SALWISS weapon tags, it can be disclosed that the tag's first letters, have the following significance (the tags can also include letter combinations, according to the nature of the target, re. moving, fixed):

H-warm-blooded capacitance
M-metal
R-thermoradiating
GS-geometric, fixed
GV-geometric adjustable
P-point

Fore example, a man that has been moving for some time can be tagged as HR, a group of men can be tagged as HHV. What fun, isn't it?

Milk, Gold, Rupees and Rubles

This should not be a secret, but it is, to most of the world.

Gold prices fell,

Bid/Ask 661.60 - 662.40

Low/High 659.90 - 677.70

Change -0.70/-0.11%, about $22

even though Russia broke records in Gold vs. Forex Reserves. Russian Central Bank said its gold and foreign exchange reserves reached $413.1 billion as of July 20. The amount is the record one in the histories of both the former USSR and Russia.

Carry traders in Japan and Switzerland have been borrowing money (since this is what carry trade is about) in countries with low interest rates and investing in gold. You can see this in the Japanese yen and Swiss franc. Whatever investments sunk into the trades are adversely affected.

Gold demand dipped today as prices headed up but dealers ported moderate sales taking place late the previous day, when prices dipped to one-week lows. This is almost a mumbo-jumbo according to the cold-hard as gold truth about gold.

Ned Schmidt, the editor of the Value View Gold Report said that it is the “beginning of the demise of paper assets…spilling over into the gold market."

Let these carry traders trade. Instead, watch India, the largest consumer of gold. Watch the weather in India as well. The good monsoon at propitious time will yield good harvest, which will lead to an unusually bustling mid-August wedding season, and that should mean strong gold demand. See, no quiet intergovernmental agencies at work here. Sometimes a secret is not really a secret.

*********

There are more to this than the Mitrokhin archives, though. Milk jugs in Russian’s cellars should hold entire home movies shot by KGB officers ignorant of the future. While much of these stashes are irretrievably lost to the alcohol-induced amnesia and realigned priorities, there is a lot to be learned just from various officials discussing the subjects, and attempts to recover the jugs. That’s when Echelon and SALWISS come in. As a background reading, here is more on Echelon and SALWISS.

Got milk?

I found the sesystem commands for the set. I also know that when the unit remember lost his set, the CO used the THUSLO and THUSDA commands.

This set is to blinking for a minute or so, and in the absence of any action, it would put itself to a long-term standby unless it is brought to the DOD crypto tech and awoken, or somehow, the FBI team can allot enough time to this case and home in on the radio's distinct homing burps. Think twice before you let one of these radios in your treasure chest, won't you?

Lost Walkie-Talkie Put To Smart Sleep

Recently a soldier's HT got irretrievably lost, to no fault of his own. He did not remember whether he put his set into the default standby mode, either by CHANF or CHANS right before turning it off.

Upon hearing of this episode, where the set was taken for a routine 1 minute communication check by another teammate, the CO clicked CALUS (call user), DISCNOT (color indicator notify) and ANCOCH (announce code change). An unsuspecting finder-keeper will never know what the flashing LED would mean, and through playing with the buttons, which might remind him of a police scanner, would surely deactivate all the HT functions save for the beacon-self-ID frequency beeps. FBI should have an easy time locating this wonder CB radio, and racking up additional favors from the JTF.

Greetings to all our friends at Yahoo Crypto.

Salwiss (Space-Air-Land-Water Intelligence and Surveillance System)

With the ongoing wars concentrating on battling the insurgents who operate in small groups, often at night, using small craft and small vehicles, employing their own methods of defeating FLIR, starlight, and heat seeking sensors, the existing defense target acquisition systems do not exactly meet the needs.

The basis for the SALWISS relies on every weapon platform serving as a sensor platform as well. The system uses the following sensors, some euphemistically described:

  • thermal,
  • metal capacitance differential wave refraction,
  • night sight,
  • motion processor,
  • various sonobuoys,
  • key-, frequency- and split-shifting radar
  • synthetic-aperture radar
  • geometry fuzzy-logic analyzer

Besides the standard platforms, which are aircraft, ships, submarines, the sensors, where appropriate, are mounted on tanks, armored bulldozers, tree-embedded or camouflaged devices, as well as commander’s GPS devices.

The SALWISS display is similar to TADS, but is substantially more intuitive as a target designation means and GUI. Each target is captured, processed, and assigned its own unique Target Tag. Each TT resembles Web’s URLs, however, besides a concise code for a target’s coordinates, TT also has a code of the properties and behavior, which include a description of a target’s heat, motion, and history.

This is a rather brief description of this system. Screenshots and more to follow.

Spy Magazine

Spy was a magazine of satirical journalism, featuring in-depth investigative journalism. Based in New York, Spy resembled the British magazine Private Eye, which intelligently researched the American media and entertainment industries, and delivered content in a humorously irreverent style.

Some of Spy’s features attempted to present the darker side of celebrities such as the
prophetic photograph of Kurt Cobain holding a muzzle of a rifle in his mouth, Arnold Schwarzenegger (printing a nude photo of him and a picture of his father's Nazi party
membership card), John F. Kennedy, Jr., Martha Stewart, and especially the real-estate tycoon Donald Trump and his then-wife Ivana Trump. The mogul was repeatedly described as
"short-fingered vulgarian Donald Trump," and such literary, pejorative
epithets became a Spy trademark.

Spy 's distinctive features included “Writer's Blecch,” "Separated At Birth?," which were side-by-side photographs of two different celebrities, and "Celebrity Math," which presented
thumbnail headshots atop simple and imaginative mathematical models
representing the components of celebrities, for example, David Letterman + Dennis Miller = Dennis Prager.

For a humorous magazine, Spy was often aggressive about straight feature

reporting. In its 1993 article entitled "Clinton's
First 100 Lies,", Spy was the first to detail what it described as
the new president's duplicitous behavior. After O.J. Simpson was acquitted on charges of murdering his former wife and her friend, Spy ran a cover story under the headline "He's Guilty, By
George!" compiling a long list of details that its writers said proved
conclusively that Simpson was the killer; he did not sue.
Spy used a staff of attorneys to research such potentially libelous
material, producing strong stories that often enraged their prominent subjects.

Despite its short life, Spy was among the most influential of American magazines,
chiefly due to its consistently preserved policy of detached and ironic tone, to
its use of imaginatively humorous scientific charts and tables to convey
information, and its esthetically pleasing typography and layout. The magazine
was also controversial: many reputable journalists considered it aggressive and
flashy, whereas many younger ones felt it expressed exactly their thought.

After one shut-down and a subsequent rebirth, it closed for good in 1998.
